WPC - A New Competitor to WSOP?

888.com, one of the leading online gaming operators, launches the World Poker Crown (WPC) - the first global and televised poker tournament that is hosted by 888, with a guaranteed prize pool of $3 million and a first prize of $1 million.The prize is less than WSOP ($12 million) but this is only the first year and the expectations are high.

Poker vs. Blackjack

I've read recently an article about the similarity of the games blackjack and poker. They are both card games that combine luck and skill and are played with people around the table. That's where the similarity ends.
The big difference is that blackjack is about an individual playing against the casino while in poker the casino is not part of the game. In poker you must beat other poker playing sitting around the table.

Hit or Stand on 17?

Some may consider blackjack to be another luck game. beginners are not aware of simple rules that may turn luck for their favor. OK, not completely true - the house will always have the upper hand, but don't you want to improve your odds?
As part of the blackjack tutorial guide, I found a great article that may teach a novice player to play like the pros. The article, called hit or stay? smart blackjack, provides a simple table that defines a strategy for improving the players odds against the dealer. You must read it!

Beating the casino

A guy named Edward O. Thorp, MIT teacher, developed a system to beat the casino when playing blackjack. Using that system, he could make $70,000 in one weekend at the casino.
It's nice to here such stories on how to beat the casino, and specially when hitting with blackjack!

Protesting Against Internet Gambling Bill

In an attempt to reverse the senate's bill against online gambling, a protest will be held on Monday, October 9th, in Washington D.C.

The bill banning online gambling was approved on Friday, September 29th, and is expected to be signed by President Bush on Friday, October 13th.

Coalition to legalize video gambling

The battle for legalizing video gambling continues as the Indiana Licensed Beverage Association is acting to convince lawmakers they should legalize betting machines. The main claim for legalizing video gambling is that people will gamble even if it's illegal while moderating it will increase taxes and ensure players' interest such as fair payouts.

Governor Schwarzenegger Fails to Expand Indian Gambling

What might have been a major expansion of Indian casinos was defeated by the California Legislature, rejecting Gov. Schwarzenegger and tribal groups' bills. The bills, which would have allowed some 20,000 new slot machines on several reservations did not come through.
